PE & Sport Premium Funding
At the Minster Junior School, we ensure that physical education and sports, including competitive sport is central to the development of children.
This is evident in;
- The amount of extra-curricular clubs – many of our clubs are of a sporting nature, with an emphasis on a wide range of activities that develop a sense of competition as well as targeted participation to support an awareness of being fit and healthy. We have been awarded a Gold School Games Mark for the past two years.
- The participation in local sports partnerships – these provide ideal opportunities for staff training, gifted and talented provision and the participation in a range of competitions.
- The development of gifted and talented programmes for sport – these are in conjunction with other local schools as part of a cluster arrangement with programmes for sport and health and fitness. This is part of the Croydon Schools Sports Partnership who we use part of our Sports Premium on every year.
- The teaching and learning of the importance of healthy lifestyles and the positive impact of sport – this is a key part of lessons.
