PE & Sport Premium Funding

At the Minster Junior School, we ensure that physical education and sports, including competitive sport is central to the development of children.

This is evident in;

  1. The amount of extra-curricular clubs – many of our clubs are of a sporting nature, with an emphasis on a wide range of activities that develop a sense of competition as well as targeted participation to support an awareness of being fit and healthy. We have been awarded a Gold School Games Mark for the past two years.
  2. The participation in local sports partnerships – these provide ideal opportunities for staff training, gifted and talented provision and the participation in a range of competitions.
  3. The development of gifted and talented programmes for sport – these are in conjunction with other local schools as part of a cluster arrangement with programmes for sport and health and fitness. This is part of the Croydon Schools Sports Partnership who we use part of our Sports Premium on every year.
  4. The teaching and learning of the importance of healthy lifestyles and the positive impact of sport – this is a key part of lessons.
